SADLY OVERLOOKED DURING a month in which national television and the press were busy celebrating the anniversaries of Magna Carta and the Battle of Waterloo was Lou Stutely’s first ever hole in one on the ninth hole of the Royal Ashdown Old Course during the Ladies’ Stableford competition on Saturday, June 6th.
As well as the ace, she also chalked up five very valuable Stableford points for her net Albatross. Very many congratulations and well done, Lou!
And whilst offering congratulations we should not forget our four intrepid golfers who battled around 72 holes in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief. Club Secretary, David Holmes; head professional, Tim Cowley; clubhouse manager, Matt Palmer and chef Tom Waller, teed up at five in the morning and played 36 holes on the Ashdown Old Course before taking light refreshment and heading off to beast 36 more on the West Course.
Having raised over £1,000 in the efforts the four agreed that the West Course has never appeared tougher than it did the second time around! But a very big ‘Well played’ to all four of them, captured below upon completion of their exertions just before darkness fell.
Afterwards, Matt Palmer thanked everyone for contributing to their cause, ‘But particularly to Janie Champness who was with us from five o’clock in the morning and everybody from the club who helped us on our way round.’
